Make It Yours: Jamie Lyn + Jessica Fowler’s Texas Home

http://assets4.designsponge.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/1ax.jpg

Childhood friends Jamie Lyn and Jessica Fowler say they've been avid thrift shoppers since they were old enough to have credit cards. Jamie uses vintage objects like world coins, men's pocket-watch chains and pen knives in the designs for her jewelry line, Ax + Apple. When she needed an extra pair of hands with the business, she convinced Jessica to join her in Austin. They found this apartment in Austin's French Place neighborhood and set about decorating. Nearly everything in their home was thrifted, from the buffalo found at a Goodwill to the curtain fabric found in a fabric bin at an antique show in Austin. Even the artwork was a creative find — the "Ah Ha" print was created by Bruce Nauman in 1975. The Nauman prints sold at Phillips de Pury in New York on October 25, 2008, for $5,250, but Jamie and Jessica cut out the prints from the auction catalog and framed them.
