http://assets8.designsponge.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/afterthejump1.jpg Yesterday was the final radio show of my 2012 season, and it's been an amazing first year of hosting. I've learned so much and have had the pleasure of meeting and talking with so many people whom I've admired. For the final show, I thought it would be fitting to round up and review the top 10 design trends (and blogging trends) of 2012. From geodes and geometric patterns to inspirational quotation posters and a return to minimalism, Amy and I sat down to talk about all of it. We discussed what we thought inspired the trends, our favorite examples and whether the trends would continue and in what form. After our design-trend talk, we dug a little deeper into the burgeoning ideas from this year's blogging community, namely the trend of people expressing themselves visually rather than in written form. We also touched on the possible causes and effects of the blog world exploring the idea of being a bit more honest, transparent and realistic. It's one of my favorite shows of the season, and it was fun to look back at the year this way. I hope you'll enjoy the show. Feel free to add your own thoughts on this year's trends (and any we missed) and what you hope to see in the coming year. I also wanted to say a special thank you to everyone who listened to this year's show. When I first started doing podcasts back in 2006, I felt fortunate to have a few thousand listeners, and this year we had upwards of 1.6 million downloads for some of the shows. So thank you very, very much to everyone for listening and supporting the show. I'm excited to plan next season's guests and themes and pick up after the holiday. xo, grace LISTEN TO THIS WEEK'S EPISODE HERE THIS YEAR'S SHOW ARCHIVES Interviews: Todd Oldham, Of a Kind, Genevieve Gorder, Jason Goodman of Third Ward, Eric and Jonathan of The Brooklyn Flea, Meg Mateo Ilasco, Sibella Court, Tina Shoulders, Owyn Ruck, Illustrator GB Tran, Sarah Brysk Cohen, Lydia Marks, design critic Alexandra Lange, Lorena Siminovich, Ashley English, Todd Selby, Atlas Obscura, Bellocq Tea, Jen Bekman Business/Advice Episodes: Being Your Brand (the most downloaded episode this year), Top 10 Lessons I've Learned from D*S, Work Life Balance, Finding Your Voice, The Importance of Real Life Connections
